Do I really need OFFICIAL UGG water repellent?

Finally I bought my UGG boots today. Now what next? I am thinking of protective accessories for my boots. I want to know that do I really have to buy the Official UGG water repellent for this or a kiwi brand repellent would do the job? The point is that I don’t want to spend another $15 on Official UGG water repellent and I still want my boots to be secured and not ruined by any other aftermarket accessory.
